NCT ID NCT05966636

First seen Jan 19, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This small study tested whether a type of laser treatment (fractional CO2 laser) can reduce pain and discomfort from scars on the residual limb of veterans with lower-leg amputations. Ten participants received the laser therapy and were monitored for changes in prosthetic use, walking ability, scar appearance, and quality of life. The goal was to see if this approach could offer a longer-lasting solution than current treatments like massage or steroid injections.
