Laser 'Microscope' could spot kidney tumors, spare patients risky biopsies
NCT ID NCT02276924
First seen Jan 08, 2026 · Last updated Apr 09, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study tested a special laser microscope during a standard kidney and ureter exam. The goal was to see if the microscope could accurately tell healthy tissue from tumor tissue by looking at it closely. If successful, this could help doctors diagnose tumors without needing to take as many tissue samples (biopsies), which can be difficult and carry risks.
