New laser eye spots kidney cancer without biopsy

NCT ID NCT02276924

Summary

This study tested a special laser microscope during kidney and ureter exams to see if it could accurately spot tumors. The goal was to provide a clear diagnosis without always needing to take tissue samples (biopsies), which can be difficult and carry risks. Doctors used the microscope to examine 29 adult patients who were already scheduled for these exams due to blood in urine, kidney stones, or suspected cancer.
