Brain tumor zapped with laser, then supercharged immune system fights back

NCT ID NCT03277638

Summary

This study is testing a two-part treatment for adults whose aggressive brain cancer (glioblastoma) has returned. First, surgeons use a laser to precisely heat and destroy the tumor. Then, patients receive an immunotherapy drug (pembrolizumab) designed to help their own immune system find and attack any remaining cancer cells. The main goals are to find the safest timing for this combination and to see how well it works at controlling the cancer.
