What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
laser acupuncture
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a non-invasive way to improve body shape and blood sugar control in women with type 2 diabetes.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 50 women. The results may not apply to men or other groups, and the sham group also follows a diet, so any benefit might be small.
