First seen Dec 26, 2025 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looks back and forward at 400 people who had surgery to remove their voice box (laryngectomy) for throat cancer. The goal is to find out which patients are more likely to have a complication called a fistula (an abnormal opening) after surgery. Researchers are especially interested in how muscle loss (sarcopenia) and other factors like nutrition affect recovery.
