Can a cheaper colombian device match a top intubation tool?
NCT ID NCT07239141
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares two video laryngoscopes used to place a breathing tube during general anesthesia. Researchers want to see if the Colombian-made Laringocel works as well as the widely used C-MAC D-Blade. 252 adults having elective surgery will be randomly assigned to one device. The main goal is how often the tube goes in correctly on the first try.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Laringocel® videolaryngoscope (device)
- What this could lead to
- If Laringocel works as well as the C-MAC D-Blade, it could offer a more affordable option for hospitals with limited resources.
- What could go wrong
- This is a single-center study with 252 participants, so results may not apply everywhere. The device may not perform as well as the established one.
