NCT ID NCT04607122
First seen Apr 13, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tested whether a low-dose drug called landiolol can prevent atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) in 400 non-Asian adults after heart surgery. Atrial fibrillation is common after such operations and can lead to complications. The drug was given as a continuous infusion in the ICU and compared to a placebo. The goal was to see if landiolol reduces the chance of developing this heart rhythm problem without causing dangerous low blood pressure or slow heart rate.
