Good bacteria bladder wash could replace antibiotics for UTI-Prone patients

NCT ID NCT07308808

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early-stage study tests whether a harmless bacterium called Lactobacillus crispatus, when placed directly into the bladder, is safe and can help prevent urinary tract infections (UTIs) in adults with spinal cord injury who use a catheter. Forty participants will receive two bladder instillations of either the bacterium or a saltwater solution and track their symptoms. The goal is to find an antibiotic-free way to manage UTIs in this high-risk group.
