Epidural showdown: which method keeps labor pain at bay with fewer doctor visits?
NCT ID NCT04728048
First seen Apr 10, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 6 times
Summary
This study tested two ways of giving epidurals for labor pain: the standard method and a newer technique called dural puncture epidural. The goal was to see which one needed fewer extra pain-relief injections from a doctor during early labor. 130 healthy pregnant women took part, and researchers tracked how many required additional doctor interventions.
