New walking test could help predict falls in seniors

NCT ID NCT07277751

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether the L Test, a walking test that involves turning and walking a longer path, is a reliable way to measure mobility in people aged 65 and older. Researchers will compare it to standard tests like the Timed Up and Go test. 70 healthy older adults will be tested twice, one week apart, to see if the results are consistent.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could give therapists a better tool to assess mobility and fall risk in older adults.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage study focused on measurement, not treatment. The L Test may not prove more useful than existing tests.
