Hope for rare brain disorder: amino acid trial seeks to ease symptoms
NCT ID NCT07377032
Summary
This study is testing whether a dietary supplement called L-serine can help improve overall health and daily functioning in children and young adults (ages 2-30) with rare genetic brain disorders known as GRIN-related disorders. Each participant will try both the L-serine supplement and a placebo powder in alternating periods, so researchers can compare the effects. The main goal is to see if L-serine improves overall clinical status, behavior, thinking skills, and, for those with epilepsy, reduces seizures.
