Elastic tape might ease pain of broken collarbones in children
NCT ID NCT04161534
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study compares using KT Tape plus an arm sling versus a sling alone in 50 children with a broken collarbone. The goal is to see if the tape reduces pain and disability while the bone heals. Kids will rate their pain and complete a questionnaire about daily activities.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
KT Tape (elastic tape applied to the skin over the fracture)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could give children with broken collarbones a simple, low-cost way to have less pain and get back to normal activities faster.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early study with only 50 children, so results may not apply to everyone. The tape might not help more than a sling alone, and some kids could have skin irritation.
