Ancient tonic put to the test: can ginseng turn back the clock on aging?

NCT ID NCT05592093

Summary

This study tested whether taking Korean red ginseng capsules for 12 weeks could improve markers of antioxidant activity and general well-being in 900 middle-aged and older Chinese adults who felt persistently tired or unwell ('sub-healthy'). Participants were randomly assigned to receive either the ginseng capsules or a placebo (a dummy pill that looks the same) to see if the ginseng made a measurable difference. The goal was to see if this traditional remedy could help control age-related decline and improve vitality.
