Scientists scratch the surface to solve skin disease mystery

NCT ID NCT06021405

Summary

This study aimed to understand why minor skin irritation, like from tight clothing, can trigger psoriasis or lichen planus flare-ups, a reaction known as the Koebner phenomenon. Researchers planned to gently irritate a small area of skin on participants and then take tiny samples to analyze the immune response and skin bacteria. The goal was to learn more about the disease process, not to test a treatment, but the study was withdrawn before any participants were enrolled.
