New uncemented knee implant could reduce loosening and revision surgery

NCT ID NCT02578446

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study tests whether a new uncemented knee implant made of a porous metal called Tritanium stays in place as well as the standard cemented implant. 72 people needing total knee replacement will be randomly assigned to receive either the new or standard implant. The goal is to see if the new design reduces loosening over time, which could mean fewer revision surgeries.
