New knee implant may last longer without cement

NCT ID NCT02578446

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests a new uncemented knee implant made of a special porous metal that helps bone grow into it, compared to the standard cemented implant. About 70 people having knee replacement surgery will be randomly assigned to get one of the two implants. The goal is to see if the new implant stays in place better and lasts longer, potentially reducing the need for future revision surgery.
