Zapping the good leg to wake up the bad one? new ACL rehab idea tested
NCT ID NCT07156734
Summary
This study is testing a new idea to help people recover from ACL knee surgery. After this injury, the brain sometimes has trouble activating the thigh muscle on the injured side, which slows down rehab. Researchers want to see if applying gentle electrical stimulation to the muscle on the *healthy* leg can help 'wake up' and improve control of the muscle on the injured leg, both before and after surgery.
