Knee replacement showdown: which alignment technique works better?

NCT ID NCT06158646

First seen Apr 09, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looks at two different methods surgeons use to place a total knee replacement: mechanical alignment (a standard, one-size-fits-all approach) and kinematic alignment (a more personalized method that tries to match your original knee shape). The goal is to see which technique leads to better knee movement and function when walking and climbing stairs. About 120 adults who had a knee replacement one year ago will participate, and researchers will measure things like walking speed and joint angles.
