New therapy shows promise in slashing knee pain for surgery waitlist patients

NCT ID NCT05801510

Summary

This study tested a new therapy called Cognitive Muscular Therapy (CMT) for people with knee osteoarthritis who are waiting for joint replacement surgery. The therapy aims to teach patients to relax overactive knee muscles and change their reaction to pain, which could provide relief during the long wait for surgery. A small group of 36 participants received seven sessions of CMT over seven weeks to see if it reduced their pain and improved function.
