Knee replacement pain breakthrough? injection may cut opioid use

NCT ID NCT06112548

First seen Apr 13, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tested whether a single injection of multiple pain-relieving drugs around the knee joint can better control pain after total knee replacement compared to standard pain medications alone. Eighty adults with end-stage knee arthritis were randomly assigned to receive either the injection plus standard care or standard care alone. The goal was to see if the injection led to less pain, better knee function, and fewer side effects like opioid use.
