New study aims to find best knee spacer for fighting infections

NCT ID NCT06293352

Summary

This study compares two types of temporary antibiotic spacers used to treat infections in artificial knee joints. Researchers will randomly assign patients to receive either a standard cement spacer or a more durable spacer made with real joint components. They will follow patients for five years to see which spacer leads to better knee function, less pain, and higher satisfaction after the infection is cleared.
