Can simple knee exercises help stroke patients regain balance?

NCT ID NCT07106619

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jul 15, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study tests whether special knee strengthening exercises can improve balance and body awareness (proprioception) in people who had a stroke. About 34 participants who had a stroke 3 months to 1 year ago will do either isokinetic knee exercises or standard rehab. The goal is to see if these targeted exercises help with movement and prevent falls.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Isokinetic strengthening exercises
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a simple exercise program to help stroke survivors regain better balance and movement control.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 34 participants. The exercises may not provide significant benefit over standard rehab, and results may not apply to all stroke patients.
