Knee surgery study questions common practice
NCT ID NCT01719666
Summary
This study tested whether an additional surgical step (lateral retinaculum release) provides any benefit during standard surgery for recurrent kneecap dislocation. Researchers compared two surgical approaches in 140 adults aged 18-45 who needed knee stabilization surgery. The goal was to determine if the extra surgical step improves outcomes or increases complication risks.
