Scientists probe mystery of unexplained knee pain

NCT ID NCT01862731

Summary

This study aimed to understand how muscles around the knee cap affect movement and pain in people with chronic knee pain not caused by injury. Researchers used MRI scans to compare knee movement in 35 healthy volunteers and people with knee pain, both before and after temporarily numbing a specific thigh muscle. The goal was to learn if correcting muscle imbalances could help normalize knee cap motion and reduce pain.
