New injection offers hope for aching knees

Summary
This study is testing if a medication called pentosan polysulfate sodium (PPS), given as an injection under the skin, can help reduce pain and improve movement in people with knee osteoarthritis. About 466 adults with ongoing knee pain will receive either the PPS injections or a placebo (inactive) injection twice a week for 6 weeks. Researchers will track changes in pain, stiffness, and daily function over more than a year to see if the treatment is effective and safe.
