New knee injection aims to tackle arthritis pain and bone loss

NCT ID NCT03727022

Summary

This study tested the safety of an experimental drug called SM04690, given as two injections into the knee about six months apart, for people with moderate to severe knee osteoarthritis pain. The main goal was to see if the injections were safe and how they affected bone density in the knee. Over 100 participants were randomly assigned to receive either the drug or a placebo injection and were followed for up to two years.
