Scientists test bold new method to free kidney patients from lifelong drugs

NCT ID NCT04540380

Summary

This early-stage study is testing a new treatment approach for people receiving a kidney transplant from a living donor. The goal is to see if a special conditioning regimen can safely mix the donor's and recipient's immune systems, potentially allowing the body to accept the new kidney without needing lifelong anti-rejection medications. Researchers will carefully monitor 20 participants for safety and whether this approach can create lasting tolerance to the transplanted organ.
