Pioneering trial aims to free kidney patients from lifelong drugs

NCT ID NCT06972069

Summary

This early-stage study is testing a new combination treatment designed to help the body accept a donated kidney without needing lifelong anti-rejection drugs. The treatment involves a special bone marrow infusion from the kidney donor, along with medications and low-dose radiation, given just before the transplant. Researchers will see if this approach is safe and if it allows patients to reduce or completely stop their immunosuppressant medications over time.
