Simple pee test could replace risky biopsies for kids with new kidneys

NCT ID NCT03719339

Summary

This study aims to see if a simple urine test, originally developed for adults, can accurately detect early signs of rejection or infection in children who have received a kidney transplant. It involves 445 children and teens, aged 2 to 18, who have had a transplant. The goal is to find a safer, non-invasive way to monitor the health of the new kidney and help it last longer, avoiding the need for frequent, painful needle biopsies.
