First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding sodium thiosulfate to the fluid that keeps donor kidneys cold during transport can reduce the chance of delayed kidney function after transplant. About 120 adults receiving a deceased donor kidney will be randomly assigned to get the additive or standard care. Researchers will track how many patients need dialysis soon after transplant to see if the new approach helps.
