First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 02, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study compares two common procedures for removing small kidney stones (less than 15 mm) located in the lower part of the kidney. About 70 adults will be randomly assigned to receive either flexible ureteroscopy (a thin scope through the urinary tract) or shock wave lithotripsy (sound waves from outside the body). The goal is to see which method is safer and more effective at clearing the stones after one month.
