Simple Pre-Surgery pills found to reduce injury and pain in kidney stone operations

NCT ID NCT07202923

Summary

This study tested whether taking specific medications (tamsulosin or silodosin) for a week before a common kidney stone surgery could make the procedure safer. Researchers found that patients who took these pills had a higher chance of the surgical tools being inserted successfully and experienced less injury to their urinary tract and less pain after surgery. The study involved 140 adults undergoing surgery for kidney stones.
