First seen Mar 17, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study compares a special ureteral access sheath with built-in suction (FANS) to the standard sheath used during kidney stone removal surgery. About 134 adults with kidney stones at least 5 mm wide will be randomly assigned to one of the two devices. The goal is to see if the suction sheath leads to fewer leftover stone pieces and reduces the risk of infection after the procedure.
