Could a simple blood test predict kidney trouble before it starts?

NCT ID NCT07199205

Summary

This study aims to find out if high levels of uric acid in the blood can serve as an early warning sign for faster kidney function decline in adults with prediabetes. Researchers will observe 150 adults with prediabetes and healthy kidney function to see if those with high uric acid are more likely to experience worsening kidney health over time. The goal is to identify a simple, modifiable risk factor to help doctors better predict and potentially prevent kidney disease in this at-risk group.
