New test aims to spot kidney damage risk before it happens

NCT ID NCT04864847

Summary

This study is testing a new, quick urine test that measures a protein called L-FABP. The goal is to see if this test can predict which patients are at high risk for kidney damage within two days after receiving contrast dye during heart or blood vessel procedures. Researchers will enroll 450 adults with reduced kidney function or other risk factors to validate the test's accuracy. If successful, this could help doctors take early steps to protect patients' kidneys.
