Could grilled nuggets harm your kidneys? small study investigates.

NCT ID NCT02695251

First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at whether certain compounds in cooked food, called AGEs, change how the kidneys work. Ten healthy young men ate either a high-AGE meal (chicken nuggets) or a low-AGE meal (eggs), and researchers measured kidney blood flow and oxygen levels using special scans. The goal was to understand if AGEs alone cause the kidney changes seen after a protein-rich meal, which may be linked to kidney disease progression.
