Kidney donors face hidden risk: study probes scrotal surgery link

NCT ID NCT06716723

Summary

This study investigates whether men who donate a kidney through laparoscopic surgery have a higher long-term risk of needing scrotal surgery compared to similar men who didn't donate. Researchers analyzed health records of 9,878 men in Ontario, Canada, comparing about 800 kidney donors to 8,000 carefully matched non-donors. The goal is to understand if kidney donation is linked to later scrotal problems that might require surgery.
