Does giving a kidney weaken your bones? major study investigates
NCT ID NCT07401953
Summary
This study aims to find out if people who donate a kidney have a higher long-term risk of breaking bones, like hip or wrist fractures, compared to similar healthy people who did not donate. Researchers will review over 30 years of health records from 50,000 living kidney donors and carefully matched non-donors across Canada. The goal is to provide clear information to help future donors and their doctors make informed decisions about donation safety.
