Breakthrough test could spot kidney patients headed for failure

NCT ID NCT02199145

Summary

This study tested whether a specific blood test could better predict which patients with an autoimmune kidney disease called membranous nephropathy are at highest risk for their kidneys getting worse. Researchers followed 52 patients to see if measuring certain antibodies using a test involving mouse proteins could identify those likely to progress to severe kidney damage or failure. The goal is to confirm if this test can reliably spot high-risk patients early, so doctors can monitor them more closely or consider stronger treatments sooner.
