New hope for kids with failing kidneys: major drug trial launches

Summary
This study is testing if a medicine called empagliflozin can help protect kidney function in children and teenagers with chronic kidney disease. About 120 participants, aged 2 to 17, will be randomly assigned to take either the drug or a placebo pill for six months, followed by a year where everyone gets the drug. Researchers will track changes in kidney health through blood and urine tests to see if the treatment is safe and effective for young patients.
