New hope for controlling cholesterol in dialysis patients

Summary
This study tested if a new drug called MCI-196 could lower bad cholesterol (LDL) in people with severe kidney disease who are on dialysis. It compared MCI-196 to a common cholesterol drug (simvastatin) and to a placebo (a dummy pill). The goal was to see if the new drug worked as well as or better than the standard treatment for managing this health risk.
