New study aims to break the Pain-to-Opioid cycle after trauma

Summary
This study is testing if a short, 5-day course of a common anti-inflammatory drug (ketorolac) given right after major bone surgery can help prevent patients from needing opioid painkillers long-term. It will enroll 458 adults with serious orthopedic injuries. Researchers will compare patients who get the drug plus standard pain care to those who get standard care alone, checking opioid use and pain-related function for 6 months.
