Diet showdown: can a strict ketogenic plan beat mediterranean eating for lasting weight loss?

NCT ID NCT05781269

Summary

This study compares two dietary approaches over three years to see which works better for long-term weight control and improving heart health factors in adults with severe obesity and metabolic syndrome. One hundred participants aged 55-75 will be randomly assigned to follow either a very-low-calorie ketogenic diet or a calorie-restricted Mediterranean diet. Researchers will track changes in weight, blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and other health markers to determine which diet provides more lasting benefits.
