Can a Low-Carb diet help stabilize the brain in serious mental illness?

NCT ID NCT05268809

Summary

This study tested whether a very low-carbohydrate, high-fat ketogenic diet could improve brain network stability in people with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Researchers enrolled 71 adults and compared those on the special diet for four weeks to those eating as usual. The goal was to see if improving the body's metabolism could help stabilize brain connections linked to thinking and memory problems.
