Shorter or longer? study tests best duration for fungal shampoo treatment

NCT ID NCT07471178

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether using ketoconazole 2% shampoo for seven days works better than using it for three days to treat pityriasis versicolor, a common fungal skin condition that causes discolored patches. About 76 people aged 12 and older with confirmed infection will be randomly assigned to one of two treatment lengths. The main goal is to see which duration clears the fungus more effectively, while also checking for side effects.
