Cream tested to soothe painful side effect of cancer treatment

NCT ID NCT03471364

Summary

This early study tested whether a cream containing ketoconazole could reduce the severity of a skin rash caused by a common class of cancer drugs (EGFR inhibitors). 58 patients with cancer who developed this rash were randomly assigned to use either the ketoconazole cream or a placebo cream for 28 days. The main goal was to see if the ketoconazole cream improved patients' rash symptoms and quality of life compared to the placebo.
