Anesthesia choice may shield kidneys in High-Risk heart operations

NCT ID NCT05268562

Summary

This study aims to see if using ketamine instead of propofol to put patients to sleep at the start of complex heart surgery better protects their kidneys from injury. It will involve 200 adults undergoing major heart procedures at Mayo Clinic. Researchers will compare how often kidney injury occurs and measure related blood markers between the two anesthesia groups.
