Summary

This study aimed to understand if the sedative ketamine might trigger seizure-like brain activity in patients during medical procedures, compared to other common sedatives. Researchers monitored the brain waves of 300 adults without epilepsy who were sedated for a stomach scope procedure. They compared the effects of ketamine, midazolam, and propofol to see which drugs were more likely to cause abnormal electrical patterns in the brain.
