New drug combo tested to ease pain after surgery

NCT ID NCT07213687

Summary

This study tested whether a combination of low-dose ketamine and lidocaine works better than the standard pain medication fentanyl for controlling pain after gynecologic surgery. Researchers compared the two approaches in 70 women having elective surgery to see which provided better pain relief with fewer side effects like nausea. The goal was to find safer, more effective ways to manage post-surgery pain while reducing reliance on traditional opioid medications.
